Lee Emanuel retained his mile title at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, USA on March 12-13.
Competing for New Mexico University, the defending champion led the preliminaries and in the final, Emanuel was a class above the opposition as he dipped under the four-minute barrier for the victory in 3:59.76, defeating Mac Fleet, who took second in 4:01.63.
Jessica Ennis this afternoon added the World Indoor Pentathlon gold medal to her World Championship heptathon gold.
Jess made a solid start to the competition in Doha in winning both of her opening events, the 60m hurdles and high jump.
She followed this with a season's best shot putt of 14.01m and a personal best in the long jump of 6.44m. This left her in a commanding lead going into the final event, the 800m. Not leaving anything to chance, Jess led over the first 200m and 400m, eventually finishing second with a personal best time of 2:12.55. Her final points total was 4937, a new championship and British record!
