Northern Athletics Senior & U20 Indoor Championships 2009

The championships saw Jessica Ennis return from long-term injury to competition to win two silver medals in the 60 metres and the shot.

There were also several medals won by our senior and U20 athletes.

Jessica's time of 7.56 in the 60m, 0.09 second off her personal best, showed that her training is progressing well. Her shot was just as encouraging, beaten only by her Sheffield team mate Amy Hill who set a new championship record with 14.53 and a new personal best. Jessica was just two centimetres short of her best with 13.50.

John Kelley ran well to win the 400 metres, beating his Sheffield team mate Sean Brindley with a time of 48.51.
