Our British League team all but guaranteed a return to the Premiership in their third, and penultimate, match of the season. Leading the division going into the match in Bromley the team finished second to Kent AC. This leaves the team in first place in division 1 with one match to go and 7 points clear of the third placed team Kent AC, with the top two teams promoted.
Sam Ellis ran superbly winning the 800 metres in a season's best time of 1:48.96 before going on to add useful points by placing third in the B javelin (49.58), a good event for Sheffield with Lee Doran placing second in the A event with 60.42.
The hammer produced maximum points for Sheffield through Matt Lambley (67.05) and Simon Bissell (54.22).
Jamie Williamson won the shot with a throw of 16.18 with Roger Skedd runner up in the B event (13.91). Skedd was a big points scorer with a win in the 110 metres hurdles (14.33) and fourth in the long jump (6.89).
Graeme Matthews won the B long jump with 6.71 and finished runner up in the triple jump (15.10) with Dave Budd making it a strong event for Sheffield with first place in the B event (14.39).
Another strong event was the 400 m hurdles where Steve Garrett was third in 52.52 and Tom Grantham won the B race in 53.69. Matt Quine gave his usual solid performance to take third place in the 400 metres (48.08).
