Yorkshire Championships 2010

Jessica Ennis won the 100m and long jump at the Yorkshire and Humberside Track and Field Championships at Don Valley at the weekend.
She won the 100 metres in 12.10, but conditions were poor, very cold with a wind gusting at over four metres per second for the sprinters. In the heats earlier, she had run an impressive 11.82, again with a headwind but not as strong as the final. In the long jump she achieved 6.29 metres.

In the men's events there was a double for  Matthew Quine. He won the 400 metres on the first day in 48.67 and then took the 200 in a personal best of 21.85 on the second day. In the shorter event he beat team mate Todd Marshall who had earlier won the 100 metres.
Matt Lambley beat his own Yorkshire record in winning the hammer, his winning throw of 69.89 being close to his personal best.
Jamie Williamson won the shot silver medal with 16.77, but won the discus with a throw of 49.05 gaining a narrow verdict over Sale's defending champion Marcus Gouldbourne. In the high jump Wanangwa Mkandawire outclassed the opposition with his 1.96 clearance. Steve Garrett (Sheffield) won the 400 metre hurdles, in 53.26 and also picked up bronze medals in the high hurdles and the 200 metres. Joe Lancaster also won two events in the same age group, the 400m (54.59) and 800m (2:05.58), as did Dannish Khan 100m(11.06) and 200m(21.69).
