Our young athletes team made a winning start to the Northern Premier East division season beating Chesterfield and City of York in the first match. The ongoing development of the team was evident in its increase in numbers from last season, and the strength in depth of the talented youngsters. Chesterfield had finished ahead of our team by 4 points when they met last season, but in this match our team finished 84 points ahead of them. The final result was
City of Sheffield 596 points
City of York 552 points
Chesterfield 512 points
Highlight of the match was Thomas Peters' throw of 58.24 metres which bettered the league record for the U15 boys javelin by 57 centimetres.
There were 2 coats left at Woodburn Road stadium in the area where our club was sitting. One large man's and one girls smallish size. Lorraine Bishell has taken them for safekeeping.
