The classic Percy Pud 10 K Race

The Percy Pud 10 K road race by Steel City Striders was kicked off at Loxley Valley.','Chris Ireland (V45) was first home from our club in 17th position and first in his age group. He finished in 34.30 min. Jamie Russell had changed from his usual middle distance and ran the race in 31st position in 35.41 min. Mike Levery (V50) was 36th in 36.19 min. and 3rd in his age group. Denis O\'Gorman followed shortly after in 41st position in 36.28 min. and 4th position in his age group. Nigel Kent was 112th in 40.17 min. Les Morton (V50) was 154th in 41.33 min. Huband and wife followed each other: Andrew Elleker (V50) was 247th in 44.19 min. and Helen Elleker (V45) was 355th in 46.53 min. Carl Otter (V45) was 486th in 49.40 min. Rebecca Mersh substituted her usual race walking discipline and ran 41.50 min. which earned her a 9th position among the women. A group of our women followed within short distance: Laura Lee and Niamh Leonard finished just after each other in respectively 532nd in 50.47 min. and 533rd in 50.49 min. Katie Ford finished 549th in 51.21 min. The race was won by Jason Ward from Altrincham AC in a very fast 30.04 min. There was a close finish between number two and three: Richard Harris from Rotherham Harriers & AC took the 2nd position in 31.54 min. and Andrew Thake from Hallamshire Harriers followed 11 seconds behind in 32.05. Penny Thackerly from Wakefield & District AC won the women\'s race in 35.50 min. Julie Wilson (V35) from Hallamshire Harriers was 2nd in 38.54 min. and Joanna Seymour from Hallamshire Harries just 6 seconds took 3rd position in 39 min. dead.
