All who travelled to Pontefract for the Northern Cross Country Championships enjoyed a gloriously sunny and wind free day which saw some more excellent performances from City of Sheffield Athletes. Athletes from our club took home 3 medals (one individual and 2 team medals) so 2 more than last year.
Highlights included a fanatastic 3rd place for Amelia Lancaster who at the younger end of the age group came in to take the individual Bronze medal in a highly competitive field of 173 athletes. Very well done Amelia! Our U13 Boys (Alfie Manthorpe, Oliver Dane, Christian Mills and George Finlay) took team Silver, and our U15 Boys (Josh Naisbitt, Jonathan Shields, Evan Webb and Joe Hibbert) took team Bronze.
In addition our U17 Ladies (Beth Ansell, Calvi Thompson, Eve Pound and Susannah Curran finished 5th team overall, and U13 Girls (Amelia, Mariella De Lara, Emily Simpson and Magan Storey) 9th overall. Congratulations to all of you who took part and completed the course, and to those of you who came along to support. It is very much appreciated!

LOST PROPERTY - if anyone inadvertantly took home a small black rucksack with spikes and a vest in, please can you let me know asap?
The cross country season is coming to a close now, and I'd just like to say a very big 'Thank You' to everyone who has made this such a successful season. Parents and friends who have transported, supported and stood in the cold, wet and wind, athletes who have competed and supported fellow athletes in the cold, wet and wind, and particularly to Daisy and Mike Pound who could have been at home in the warm and dry but have given me a tremendous amount of support, and to Eve whose help and encouragement to our new U11s competitors has been invaluable.
A report of the performance of all South Yorkshire clubs so far this season has been published by the South Yorkshire League Secretary and posted to www.sycaa.co.uk and reflects what a great season we have had as a club. It also remarks that the performances of SY clubs at the Northerns are the best that can be remembered in the last 15 years - so all the hard work by all of you is most definitely paying off!
