South Yorkshire XC League - Sunday 8 November, Fixture 2, Longley Park - Results and Race Report

To say that the morning of Sunday 8th November was wet is an understatement.  It started raining at 10:00, and finished at 13:30, by which time then Senior Men were finishing and the club tents were standing in 6 inches of water and a soup of mud.  The ground was slippy underfoot and several athletes took nasty falls.  But what a fantastic turnout and what fantastic results from the City of Sheffield athletes. Alfie Manthorpe (U11) and James Gray (U17) both won their age category races, with Adam Newton (U20), Eve Pound (U15) and Mick Thompson (V50) taking 2nd place in theirs.  James Dane (U11), Ellie Curran U13), Dan Jepson (U17) Howard Wood (U20) and Steve Evison (Man) all finished 3rd.
 
Well done to everyone and a special mention to Jade Ellis who finished 14th on her first run out for the club.
 
If anyone is missing a pair of black spikes from the event, please let me know.
