England Athletics U15 & U17 Championships

The club had two medal winners from the championships which were held at Bedford on 21 and 22 August.

In the U15 boy's javelin Thomas Peters threw a new club record 64.74m to take the silver medal. He finished behind Oliver Bradfield in a close battle which saw the championship record broken 3 times. Thomas then he threw in the U17 men's javelin competition and won the bronze medal with a throw  59.11m, another club record with a 700g javelin.
Joe Lancaster won silver in the U15 boy's 800m in a time of 2:02.48.

 
Senior Mens Team Return to Premiership
Our senuior men's team won their final match in the British League (Division 1) at Liverpool giving them a seven point lead at the top of the table and ensuring a speedy return to the Premier Division.

Jessica Ennis Wins European Gold

Jessica Ennis won the heptathlon gold in the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona today with a thrilling final run in the 800m. In day one she had won the first two events, the 100m hurdles and high jump. Under pressure  in the shot put she produced a solid throw of 14.05m with her final throw. She then finished the day with a season's best performance in the 200m of 23.21 to leave the opposition in her wake.

British Athletics League Match 3

Our British League team all but guaranteed a return to the Premiership in their third, and penultimate, match of the season. Leading the division going into the match in Bromley the team finished second to Kent AC. This leaves the team in first place in division 1 with one match to go and 7 points clear of the third placed team Kent AC, with the top two teams promoted.
