Another Good Season For Our Teams Print E-mail

This track & field season was another good one for our teams in the British Athletics League, Northern League, National Junior League and Young Athletes League.

The BAL team made certain of promotion to the Premier Division when they finished third in the final British League (Division 1) match at Hendon.
Beaten by Kent AC and Trafford, they had done enough in the earlier rounds to finish equal on points with Trafford at the head of the division. However, Trafford finished top of the division due to having scored more match points.

In the Northern League Division 3EC the team topped the division with 21 points after winning their final match ahead of 2nd placed Chesterfield & District AC.
This means that they are promoted into Division 2EC next season, swapping places with local rivals Hallamshire Harriers who were relegated from that division.

The National Junior League team made a solid start to their first ever season of competition. They finished in 4th place, mid-table in the division on 19 points.

The Young Athletes League team acheived their goal of remaining in the Premier Division following last season's promotion. Going into the final match of the season the team had done enough in the previous four matches to ensure that they would not be relegated. So even though the very much depleted team finished fourth in the final match, they still stayed up, albeit by 1 point.

Both the Junior League and Young Athletes teams can look forward to increased success next season as the larger numbers of athletes moving through the age groups means that they will have larger teams next year.

Well done to all of our athletes for their efforts and achievements this season.
