Welcome to the City of Sheffield Athletic Club

We are proud to be one of the North of England's premier clubs, with a vibrant mix of athletes - from 8 year olds to Seniors. At City of Sheffield we care about our athletes, whatever their standard, and this is reflected in our being awarded Clubmark by England Athletics. The club caters for athletes of all ages, ethnicity, development, and abilities to enhance their potential in the variety of disciplines which the sport offers.

By providing free coaching from qualified coaches with support for all, whether track & field, road, cross country or race walking, we nurture and develop the individual's abilities in a fun and friendly atmosphere to enable them to succeed to the best of their potential.

The club trains in state of the art facilities at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium and the English Institute of Sport.  If you are interested in athletics, whatever your level of ability, then you are invited to come along and join us.

If you are aged 8 to 16 years and are interested in joining us then visit our Young Athletes pages.

Young Athletes League Match 1 Print E-mail
Tuesday, 06 May 2008
On Sunday the Young Athletes team embarked on its first trip in the Premier Division to Liverpool with some great performances and cracking results.

Pictures from this match and from the first match in the South Yorkshire League can be found in the Picture Gallery.

To finish 3rd by just 6 points was more than we had expected and with an U17 team that promises to be much stronger in the remaining fixtures we should be able to support U13's and U15's and show all the other teams in the division that CoSAC young athletes team are a force to be reckoned with. The fact that we lost 11 pts due to lack of officials is a bit of a worry however, as these points are taken away from those earned by the kids and would have meant 2nd instead of 3rd. Anyone can help out by holding a stopwatch or watching who crosses the line 1st so any volunteers will be greatly appreciated. (we can always cover your place if you want to watch your child compete).

Within the age groups our U13s were 1st, 30 points ahead of Liverpool and our U15s were also first, 33 points ahead of Liverpool.
The U13 girls, U13 boys, U15 boys were as individual teams all in 1st place and the U15 girls in 2nd place.

Congratulations to the following athletes who all broke club records:

Eve Pound U13 girls 1200m
Abbey Stanley U15 girls 800m
Tesni Ward U17 women javelin
Chris Price U15 boys pole vault
Sam Baddeley U15 boys shot putt
Chris Grayson U15 boys 400m

Match score:

1 Livepool P&S     362 pts
2 Wigan               335 pts
3 City of Sheffield 329 pts
4 Wakefield          320 pts
