Welcome to the City of Sheffield Athletic Club

We are proud to be one of the North of England's premier clubs, with a vibrant mix of athletes - from 8 year olds to Seniors. At City of Sheffield we care about our athletes, whatever their standard, and this is reflected in our being awarded Clubmark by England Athletics. The club caters for athletes of all ages, ethnicity, development, and abilities to enhance their potential in the variety of disciplines which the sport offers.

By providing free coaching from qualified coaches with support for all, whether track & field, road, cross country or race walking, we nurture and develop the individual's abilities in a fun and friendly atmosphere to enable them to succeed to the best of their potential.

The club trains in state of the art facilities at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium and the English Institute of Sport.  If you are interested in athletics, whatever your level of ability, then you are invited to come along and join us.

If you are aged 8 to 16 years and are interested in joining us then visit our Young Athletes pages.

England Athletics Indoor Championships 2008 Print E-mail
Friday, 29 February 2008
The championships were held at the Birmingham Indoor track on 23rd and 24th February. We had 11 athletes taking part and 1 gold and 2 silver medals were won and 4 club records broken.

U15
Chris Grayson won silver in the final of the 800m in a time of 2:04.89. In a close finish he was beaten by just 0.35 seconds.Abigail Bishell made the semi final of the 200m finishing in 5th in 26.71 secs. Kelly Clark also made it through to a semi final, in the 60m, finishing 7th in 8.34 secs. In the 60m hurdles Emily Cox was 5th in her heat in 9.91 secs and in the boys 60m heats Cameron Burrows was 6th in 7.86 secs.

U17
There were 3 club records broken by two athletes. Tesni Ward won gold in the shot putt and also broke her own club record with a throw of 12.66m. Carys Hall broke 2 club records. In the heats of the 200m she set a time of 25.69 secs, and in finishing 7th in the 60m she finished in 7.85 secs. All the more impressive as this is her first year as an U17 and she was competing against girls a year older than her.
In the mens 200m final Dannish Khan was a creditable 5th in 23.68 seconds, having set a PB of 23.15 seconds in the heats. Dannish also set a time of 7.36 seconds in the heats of the 60m.
