South Yorkshire Sports Awards 2007 Print E-mail
Thursday, 15 November 2007
It was the South Yorkshire Sports Awards 2007 at the English Institute of Sport last night and two of our athletes, one coach and our Young Athletes team were shortlisted for awards.

In the Coach of the Year award category Rob Creasey was joint winner with Trevor Fox, congratulations Rob and also to Trevor who also coaches our athletes.

Abdi Ahmed was up for the Junior Performer of the Year award but unfortunately didn't win. We all know what a great athlete Abdi is and the bright future ahead of him but the competion for this award was very strong.

Jessica Ennis won the Senior Performer of the Year Award and rightly received the biggest and loudest round of applause of the evening.

The Young Athletes team were not successful in winning the Junior team of the Year award. Again there was strong competition in this category and they were up against teams which had won several regional and national titles between them. However we know what an exceptional team they are, how hard they worked last season and their achievement of winning every match in the Young Athletes League and finishing divisional champions in their first season following promotion was phenominal. Well done to them for being shortlisted for this award and many thanks to Rob Andrew for nominating the team.
