The club's young athletes won a silver and two bronze medals to give them the best ever performance by club young athletes in the Yorkshire Road Relays this weekend. The senior teams produced good performances too.
The Boys under 13 team led by Chris Grayson who finished second and took the Silver medal went on to win the Bronze in the team race with Millan Saleh 13th and Fuad Hussain 16th. In the boys under 17 relay strong runs from Alex Boskom Walker,Howard Wood and Lendl Taylor created the opportunity for up and coming Ahmed Risak to tear apart the opposition to clinch the Bronze,his time of 9.43 was the fastest of the day .Ahmed is rated as one of the top runner in his age group nationally. The newly resurgent senior teams saw the women finish in 12th place with Jane Shields,Jenny Horne,Laura Lee and Kirsten Mcdonald. The mens team finished 9th the best finish for several years with Darren Newbould,Steve Evison,Martin Reid,Mick Thompson,Ged Turner and Chris Ireland.The veterans B team hastely asembled in the pub earlier in the week finished a creditable 17th. |
